What We Believe

We are rooted in the Christian Faith

We believe the Bible is God’s perfect, reliable communication to us, revealing who He is, what He has done for us and His perfect plan for us and our world.  We believe in Jesus Christ as the world’s only hope for salvation.  We affirm three ancient Christian creeds as faithful summaries of what we believe – the Apostles Creed, the Athanasian Creed.

We are rooted in the Reformed Faith Tradition

The REFORMED faith tradition grew out of the Protestant Reformation, begun in western Europe in the 1500’s.  At that time, our spiritual ancestors in the reformed tradition struggled to reform the church to bring it in line with God’s vision, laid out in the Bible, for what His church should be as God’s agent of reformation in His world.  We aim to press on with that vision.  We affirm the following reformed faith statements as faithful summaries of what we believe – the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort.

We are rooted in South Holland, Illinois

Though our membership covers a broad region, we affirm our commitment to being a South Holland-centered body of believers.  We applaud South Holland as a community of churches, a community of “Faith, Family, Future”.   We believe that God has planted us in South Holland to enjoy His blessings, to be a blessing and to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.
